During our visit to Mesa, Jesse McDowell took us out to a couple of places where we could see the desert. We love living in Oregon, but being in the desert in the spring made us realize that we miss it. We were there in beautiful weather with some wildflowers and cactus blooming. I'm including some photos of ocotillo (long tentacle like "limbs"), a palo verde tree in bloom, a Fairy Duster wild flower, a desert Marigold, some other wild flowers and a cactus wren, and various blooming cactus. There is also a photo of a landscape of the valley form Usery Pass park and one of the Superstition Mountains form the park.
Besides seeing the dessert we enjoyed visiting with friends - Bob & Nancy Backus, Pauline & Jesse McDowell and Christeen Hall (the widow of our former bishop).
